Jean studied drama at Bristol University and for the last four decades has worked extensively in all genres of the performing arts.  In the West End she played Fiona in Fringe Benefits, the last Brian Rix farce at the famous Whitehall Theatre followed by Doreen in Separate Tables by Terence Rattigan at the Apollo. Since then she has performed in a wide variety of modern and classical plays.

 Television has included: The Day of the Triffids (cult BBC series), Hospital Drama, The Bill, Strike It Rich and St Vitus Dance. Radio includes: The Country Wife, Much Ado About Nothing and The Old Curiosity Shop (BBC R4).

 Most recently, in the spirit of diversity, Jean has played a commando nun for Future Cinema, Lily in Sex Cells (Hammersmith Riverside), Myrtle Bagot in Coward’s Still Life, forerunner to Brief Encounter (Bridewell/Union Theatre), a variety of characters in the musical Victor Victoria plus Mrs Batley in a long overdue revival of J.B. Priestley’s They Came to a City (both Southwark Playhouse) and finally Madge, in a short film about an independent jacket potato entrepreneur struggling to survive in the corporate world !
